Dr. Brandon L. Smith
Brandon is a pastor, author, and speaker helping Christians navigate artificial intelligence and digital culture with biblical wisdom, practical discernment, and confidence in what it means to be made in the image of God.
Brandon holds a Doctor of Ministry degree focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and ministry and serves as a full-time pastor in Minot, North Dakota.
He is the author of three books exploring faithful discipleship in the age of artificial intelligence: Rooted, for pastors and church leaders; Anchored, for parents; and Ollie and Beep: Some Things Are Just for Me, an illustrated children’s book created with his daughter Bethany.
Brandon and his wife, Melaney, serve in their local church while raising their three children in the middle of the world these books describe: a world changing quickly and often marked by confusion, yet one in which their hope and peace remain firmly rooted in Jesus Christ.

Designed for pastors and ministry leaders, this session examines both how artificial intelligence is changing the work of ministry and how emerging technology will create new pastoral challenges inside local congregations.
Participants will explore how AI can assist with research, administration, communication, and preparation while preserving the deeply human work of presence, discernment, discipleship, preaching, and pastoral care.
The session also helps pastors prepare for the real questions increasingly likely to land in their churches: AI companionship, children and technology, truth and deepfakes, work and displacement, counseling concerns, ethical use, spiritual confusion, and the pastoral implications of increasingly humanlike machines.

Parenting in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
A practical and hopeful session for parents and educators who want to better understand the world their children are growing up in and the role artificial intelligence is already beginning to play in it.
Drawing from Anchored, this session helps parents make sense of chatbots, AI in education, artificial companionship, changing ideas about work and creativity, and the new questions children are likely to face as these tools become part of everyday life.
The goal is not to make parents technology experts. It is to give them a clear framework for understanding what is changing, what is not, and how to guide their children with wisdom, healthy boundaries, and confidence in what it means to be made in the image of God.
